Glastonbury Festival Posters

I was lucky enough to attend Glastonbury, the largest greenfield music festival in the world, where some of the best global acts come together for a five-day celebration of incredible music. During my stay, I noticed the incredibly vibrant and bold posters that had been designed to send a message to the festival-goers about respecting the land and leaving no trace.

The combination of colourful gradients contrasted with the black and off-white paper embodied everything that makes Glastonbury so brilliant. This was my favourite but I encourage you to check out the full collection that was produced - I wish I brought one home now!

Nike x Grenfell Athletic FC Dream Carriers

Grenfell Athletic FC was set up almost six years ago, a football club formed by a collection of survivors and the bereaved of the 2017 Grenfell Fire, and its wider community. In the short time it has existed as a club, it has made a huge impact in sports and on the lives of people in the area.

The spot advertising the shirt is voiced by artist AJ Tracey who hails from Ladbroke Grove not far from Grenfell. Brothers & Sisters has also designed the shirt, which is covered in drawings and messages from young people. In the film, directed and produced by Electric Studios, we see these notes animated, as a group of young people reveal their aspirations for the future

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Animations

Earlier this month I went to watch the latest Spider-Man movie. The animation style is incredible and I’d recommend giving it a watch just for that! Similar elements of the style can be seen across other films such as “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and even the animated TV series Entergalactic. Notably it’s also used in the latest “Need for Speed: Unbound” game.

Aside from the impressive style itself and how it’s applied to each unique world in the movie, it was interesting to see the breakdown from the various artists/animators in their process. From early concepts, utilising different frame rates & their own reference material.

Torquay United F.C Away Kit

It's that time of the year when football clubs reveal their new kits for the upcoming season. As a massive admirer of football shirts and the competition between sports companies to create unique styles, I thought why not share one of my favourite designs so far. I discovered the new Torquay United away kit on Twitter and was instantly impressed with how it looks. The triple blue colour-way creates this modern and clean feel while the white creates a nice split for the logos to sit in the centre. Very impressive from Puma and arguably a lot nicer than most of the kits you see in the top flights.

The Jockey Club website

In the past couple of months, I have stumbled across some nice websites ranging in creativity and layout. One of those sites happens to be a company at the forefront of horse racing, The Jockey Club.

The first things I look for in a good website are: how easy is it to navigate, how does it structure its content, and how do both the colour scheme and typography work in tandem. I must say the jockey club website covers all these bases beautifully. The double stacked navigation bar at the head of the page makes it simplistic for the user to locate a specific course they may be looking for. Furthermore, once a racecourse is selected – each course adopts its own accent colour which I thought was a great touch of design by the developers. The main typeface is a great tip off to their traditional roots whilst staying up to date with modern design. Both typography and colour scheme work together well consistently throughout the site making content easily digestible for the user. Overall, the Jockey Club website has definitely provided me with inspiration that I can take into my work going forward!
