First question

Who are you and what is your role?

I’m Annette and I’m Head of HR at SITA. Basically, anything to do with people comes my way.

Second question

Why is HR so important to companies like Square in the Air and how do you help bring the team together?

Obviously I would say that HR is incredibly important to any company but particularly smaller companies like Square in the Air. For me it’s about having an easy to navigate HR infrastructure with just enough systems, processes and guidance in place to support people. Encouraging any method where we all pull together to drive company performance is the gold standard as opposed to process for process’s sake.

Third question

Tennis Club Champion - what a title to boast on your website bio. Tell us more!

I can only say that as it’s a very small club with few entries into the annual competitions. I should have said that I ‘could’ only say that as I no longer have any titles after a year off due to injury. I’m too scared to compete again as I have a huge target on my back and the club has grown!

Fourth question

Following that, if you could pick a tennis superstar (past or present) to play doubles alongside who would it be and why?

That would have to be Roger Federer. I doubt we’ll ever see a player of such elegance again – his single handed backhand is/was sublime. Plus I’m sure he’d be a very charming doubles partner and forgive all my over enthusiastic errors.

Fifth question

You have a beautiful sheep dog, tell us more about her and what you love to get up to on your adventures.

Rosie comes everywhere with me and is, by far, the neediest member of my family. She’s far too clever by half, knows what I’m thinking before I do and almost always outwits me. She’s also a thief of some quality.

Sixth question

You love to sail, tell us about your most recent trip on the water.

I’m not sure I always love it (probably because I don’t know enough about it) and it’s definitely not always my sport of choice but there’s a certain exhilaration about riding the waves powered only by wind.

Seventh question

We know you’re into your running and tennis so what other sport helps you pass the time of day?

During lockdown I played endless table tennis with my son. He always beats me and I became super competitive trying to find a way to win just one game…it never happened.

Final Question

Where in the world would you most love to visit given the opportunity?

Hiking is my go to holiday and in September I am walking part of the Camino de Santiago which has long been on my bucket list. Other than that, top of the list is Patagonia.
