B2C Diary: September 2025

PR Director Tom Marriott revisits some of the B2C team’s best bits of work from September.

Henry Cecil Open Weekend

It’s not just hitting the print, TV screens and radio waves that clients want to see, but fostering good PR within their industry can also be key.

For the third consecutive year, we activated World Pool’s sponsorship of the Best Turned Out Yard Competition at the Henry Cecil Open Weekend, a fantastic event where some of racing’s most historic and successful stables open their doors to the public.

The B2C team were on the ground in Newmarket, capturing and sharing content across social media, from Group 1-winning stars on Warren Hill to the hospitality and atmosphere across the participating yards.

This year’s Best Turned Out Yard awards were split into three categories, with Charlie Clover winning the Small Yard category, Dylan Cunha taking Medium Yard, and William Haggas and James Fanshawe sharing the Large Yard title.

Each of the three yards were thrilled to receive some World Pool merchandise, while funds raised from the event are supporting the Newmarket Housing Trust, an important initiative led by the Newmarket Trainers Group to provide vital accommodation for racing staff ensuring a lasting benefit to the local racing community.

It was a brilliant occasion that generated some very kind and positive feedback from the racing industry.

Legends Charity Game

You watch your footballing icons growing up, now we were face-to-face!

Square in the Air ran the global PR function for the inaugural Legends Charity Game – a star-studded fixture between Portugal Legends and World Legends, held at Sporting’s José Alvalade Stadium.

SITA kicked off with announcing the glittering array of names involved, before making further press updates on the half-time performer, host stadium and surprise World Legend player – none other than unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk!

With the likes of Kaka, Luis Figo, Michael Owen and Carles Puyol dusting off their boots to grace the field, football fans across the globe followed the action, with SITA providing international coverage for the Legends Charity Game organisers.

Working with media partners such as Marca, Gazzetta dello Sport and Flashscore, along with contacts at ESPN, The Sun, GOAL, and TimeOut, SITA delivered a digital PR strategy, matchday accreditation process and mixed zone activity for more than 100 on-site journalists.

Thanks to the Legends Charity Game team for their partnership, and the warm welcome we received from Miguel and Mariana at Sporting.

The Punter Pod hits 50

Tom Marriott and Bill Esdaile raised the bat to a 50th episode of The Punter Podcast, which is presented and produced by Square in the Air for City A.M.

Listeners were treated to a bumper half century episode, as top jockey Andrea Atzeni joined Tom, Bill and Hong Kong expert Wally Pyrah on the show to discuss his ride in the Arc.

Each week, running alongside the release of Bill’s The Punter section in the print of the City A.M. newspaper, the podcast looks to provide listeners with a preview of the weekend’s major races, particularly those where Bill spies some ante-post value.

The show often features extra input from jockeys and trainers and is helping to grow the amount of content available for readers of the newspaper.

You can find The Punter Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and on X and Instagram.
