A Day In The Life of a B2C team member
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s actually like working in digital PR – specifically in the world of sports betting, ambassadors, social content and consumer news – here’s a glimpse into a typical (and slightly busy) Thursday in our team.

8:30am
Easing into the day in Holborn
The day starts at our new Holborn office – a recent upgrade that’s made a big difference. We grab coffees, catch up on the evening football chat, and flick through the day’s newspapers. While it’s tempting to get lost in the back pages, we’re scanning for quirky stories that can link to our betting clients.

Today’s highlight? Reports of a heatwave heading for the UK. We make a mental note – odds on breaking May temperature records could be a strong angle for William Hill. It’s these small news moments that can spark reactive coverage when timed right.
9:00am
Newspaper Roundup
At 9am, the full B2C team gathers for our daily round-up. Each of us shares stories from our allocated papers and looks for angles we can tie to upcoming fixtures, cultural moments or trending topics. If there’s a story worth betting on, we’ll shape it into a press release and push it out to the media before the buzz dies down.

Once we've aligned on the day’s best opportunities, we split off and start drafting reactive press releases for our clients. These are often turned around within a couple of hours, so it’s about finding the balance between speed and sharp storytelling.
10:30am
Weekly client check-ins
Mid-morning is usually when we jump on our weekly client catch-ups. These are short but focused sessions – a chance to walk through what’s gone live, talk through coverage, share new ideas, and align on upcoming priorities. Having a strong relationship with our clients is something we pride ourselves on, and these calls play a big role in building momentum.
11:00am
Ambassador session: Ally McCoist
Once client calls are wrapped, we head straight into our first ambassador session of the day. This one’s with Ally McCoist for talkSPORT BET. We’ve invited a few journalists onto the call and after a quick catch-up, we hand the mic over to them for their allocated interview slots.

After that, it’s our turn. We ask Ally some topical football questions to generate quote content for press releases. Today he’s backing Steven Gerrard to return to Rangers – that’ll make a strong line for tomorrow’s media outreach.
12:00pm
Prepping the press release
While Ally’s quotes are still fresh, we start drafting a press release for talkSPORT BET. The aim is to get it shaped, signed off and scheduled for distribution the next morning. We’ll also liaise with Ally’s team to make sure everyone’s happy with the angles. It’s a process that requires a good editorial eye, sharp timing, and plenty of collaboration.

1:00pm
Lunch break and media outreach
We break for lunch – some of us head out for a walk or grab something nearby at the famous Leather Lane food market, while others settle in with a meal deal at their desk.
It’s also a good time to check in on coverage, follow up on pitches, or reach out to new journalists. Building relationships with sports desks across national and online outlets is a key part of the role if you find yourself with an extra 15 minutes in the day.
2:00pm
Ambassador session: Jamie O’Hara
Back in the groove, it’s time for our second ambassador session – this time with Jamie O’Hara for Grosvenor Sport. Unlike Ally’s media-facing role, Jamie’s content is more social-first, so we shift gears into short-form, thumb-stopping video ideas.

Today we’re filming a few fun segments, including a “Stay Silent Until You Hear a Team That’s Had a Better Season Than Spurs” challenge (fresh off their Europa League win against Manchester United). Jamie’s on form, and we know the clips will land well across X and Instagram.
Once the videos are shot, we brief our design team for editing and prep the content for client approval. We also jot down a few quotes from Jamie that can be used in PRs – it’s all about getting as much value as possible from each session.
3:00pm
William Hill blog content
In the late afternoon, we shift focus to writing blog content for the William Hill News site. These articles range from weekend previews to topical features, always with a nod to relevant betting markets and CTAs.
Today’s brief is a preview of the Premier League Darts night in Sheffield – not just outlining the key matchups, but building a story around the form, rivalries and betting odds. Good writing is non-negotiable in this role. You need to write quickly, accurately, and with a voice that feels both editorial and brand-aligned.
4:00pm
Creative brainstorm
Before the day wraps, we jump into a creative brainstorm for an end-of-season campaign. These sessions are a chance to get everyone involved – whether it’s a PR stunt, social series or ambassador activation, no idea is too big (or too weird) to throw into the mix.
5:30pm
Team social at Electric Shuffle

Finally, it’s time to swap Slack chats for shuffleboards – it’s our monthly B2C team social. This month’s venue: Electric Shuffle in London Bridge. A few drinks, a lot of shouting, and a very convincing win from Luke Duffy, who clearly missed his calling as a professional shuffler.
