CREATIVE INSPIRATION

We asked our SITA creatives who or what inspires them on a daily basis and why?

Alex Day Senior Brand Designer

James Martin

"James Martin was my initial source of inspiration when I started my university journey. His meticulous attention to detail and insightful social media content about his design processes provided a valuable introduction to the world of branding. I also had the pleasure of meeting him in my second year, which further deepened my passion for logo design and branding."

Ellen Kerbey Creative Director

Dixon Baxi

"Now I know my inspiration isn’t a ‘person’ as such but I think companies like DixonBaxi, a global brand agency, are a brilliant influence on many creatives, particularly myself.

Their branding work for TNT Sports, a sports broadcaster by BT Sport, has delivered a whole new emotive language between design and sport which has had quite the impact on designers working within the sports industry. The use of geometry and contrasting fonts, paired with neon pinks is so refreshing!

An old colleague of mine Ed Steadman was one of the Motion Designers on the project, kudos to him!"

Alice Merriman Editor

Samba Films

"Samba is a content creator, short filmmaker and editor who can make the mundane beautiful. He takes shots of everyday things, like going to a book shop, taking a train or being at the beach and adds poetry or elegantly composed words and colour to make it into a film. This influences me because it shows the importance of storytelling through words and colour, and how easy it can be to make something which initially seems boring, extraordinary to look at."

Sujan Ragunathan Junior Videographer

Danny Gervitz

"Danny is a director, cinematographer based in the US. I discovered his channel like 4 years when he was mainly working as a freelance DP in the commercial world, he made videos about gear, cinematography and posted all his passion projects, breakdowns/BTS of how he made it on his channel which massively influenced me. His channel and the work he put out was a major factor of how this obsession of cameras, cinematography and everything began. Last year, he self-funded and shot his 1st full feature film as a director and it went on to win at the 2024 Manchester Film Festival - Best International Film which he attended where I got to meet and chat with him in-person. Amazing individual off camera, his short specs and documentaries are a real inspiration on the projects and stories I want to work as a DOP down the line."

Jess Bennett Junior Graphic Designer

Neil Jamieson

"Neil Jamieson is a creative director and has worked for the likes of ESPN and Sports Illustrated. I first came across his work when he began working with the FA and Chelsea on matchday graphics and other one-off celebratory graphics. Neil’s work really caught my attention because it stood out from the rest. His attention to detail is unmatched and his compositions are so well thought out. Another thing I like most about Neil’s work is the variety of stories he is able to tell, whether it be sports content, political content or editorial. I find his work inspiring for all these reasons."

Jamie Chitson Junior Graphic Designer

Brad Mead

“Like me, Brad loves poster design and typography, when I first started out designing posters and falling in love with the theory behind typography Brad was a big inspiration of mine, I found similarities between my work and his, not only through design but I resonate with his thought process and the creativity behind each poster.”

Gurdian Bharj Senior Multimedia Designer

Counter-Print Books

"All three books share a common theme around visual design principles. Optic focuses on optical illusions and effects, Big Type explores typography and font design, and Colour Clash delves into creative colour theory and application. It’s always good looking through these when a new project arises or there’s a creative block to spark something new!"
