Horses to follow2024/25 Jumps season

At SITA we work with some of the biggest names in National Hunt racing, and Account Manager Inigo Grose has spoken to them to find out their horses to follow this Jumps season.

07/11/2024

Gavin Cromwell – NOTICEBOX is a youngster we like a lot. He fell at the last in his Point for Johnny Hurley when with every chance and has done everything nicely at home since we’ve had him. He looks to have plenty of gears and is a horse who finds going fast easy. He’ll be aimed at a bumper this side of Christmas and we’re excited about what he could do on the track.

Lucinda Russell – PRIMOZ is definitely one of our more exciting horses for this season. He was a work in progress last term as a novice hurdler, but his schooling has been electric over fences, and was very good on his chase debut at Wetherby recently. We were delighted with his win and think he’s got a big future ahead of him.

Harry Cobden – REGENT’S STROLL is one the Nicholls team and I are super excited about for this season. He was obviously a top-drawer bumper horse last year, and has schooled really well since coming back from his summer break. He’s looking strong, and recently jumped 32 hurdles in a row on the loop gallop, and he certainly wasn’t getting tired! We’ll look to get him out and over hurdles at the end of October or start of November. He’s a top-class horse.

Harry Skelton – JUVENTUS DE BRION is a horse we’re looking forward to this year. We had him marked out for the Persian War after two promising runs last year left him a maiden for this campaign. He obviously fell at Chepstow the other day, but prior to that he’d come on leaps and bounds for his summer off, and we think he’s progressed well. He’s worth keeping an eye out for this season – there’s a lot to come.

Barry Geraghty – One horse to keep an eye on this season is Ben Pauling’s PERSONAL AMBITION. He won a Grade 2 at Kelso in early March and would have benefited from a good summer’s grass. I think he’ll thrive over fences. He’s a horse I’m really looking forward to seeing, and he should progress well stepping up in trip. He could develop into a very smart chaser and is definitely one to watch.

Jane Mangan - I'm going to give you a pair of JP McManus Chasers for my horses to follow this season, and that is starting with the novice INTHEPOCKET. He’s a Grade 1-winning novice hurdler who had just one run over fences last year before missing the rest of the season. He could be a real star for Henry de Bromhead and come in and replace some of the older brigade in the yard, such as Minella Indo and A Plus Tard. I also genuinely think SPILLANE’S TOWER could be the story of the season. He’s an improving horse, a dual Grade 1 winner and he’s very versatile regards trip and ground. And I know, I am quite biased, because my father trains him, but I really believe he could have a top season.

Nick Luck – ROYAL WAY is one I’m going to give you as a horse to follow. He’s trained by Gary Moore and has won his last three, and had to fight quite hard to win at Ascot in March. Prior to that I’d been quite impressed with him. Connections wanted to run him in the Boodles at the Cheltenham Festival, but they couldn’t as he didn’t quite get in and I think he’d have had a chance there. He definitely wants plenty of cut in the ground and while I know the “four going on five” season is difficult for a lot of horses, I don’t think the handicapper has got hold of him yet, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes high order in some of the better two-mile handicap hurdles in the second half of the season, particularly when the mud starts flying.
