First question

You have recently joined Square in the Air! Who are you and what is your role?

I am Jess Bennett and I am a Junior Graphic Designer at Square In The Air.

Second question

Blue is the colour, football is the game. Tell us about your love for the Chelsea Women Team!

I began religiously following the Chelsea Women Team in 2019. After watching nearly all of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, I persuaded my dad to come to a few of Chelsea’s games with me. Having been a lifelong fan it wasn’t hard at all. When the following season rolled around we managed to get our hands on highly sought after season tickets and I have been to every home game apart from one since! I have also been to my fair share of away games, the highlights being at Camp Nou to see Chelsea play FC Barcelona Femení in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and at the Johan Cruyff Arena against AFC Ajax Vrouwen, and most recently at Old Trafford where we beat Manchester United 6-0 and won the WSL for the 5th year in a row!

I have also been to many Lionesses games over the years, including five during the Women’s Euros in 2022. I went to Brentford for Germany v Denmark, Brighton for England v Norway, and a special trip up to Sheffield to watch Sweden v Switzerland (some of my favourite players are Swedish), back to Brighton for England v Spain and then to Wembley for the final where England beat Germany. That is a day which I will certainly never forget!

Third question

Have you been involved in any charity work?

My sister has been The Liam Charity's Young Ambassador since 2013. Through the years, I have done my fair share of getting involved! From sponsored bike rides to manning stalls at charity football matches and most recently joining my sister on a sponsored walk where we hiked a route that passed key places in The Liam Charity's journey.

The Liam Charity was founded by Aaron in memory of his younger brother who sadly took his own life at the age of 14. Over the past 11 years, more than £300,000 has been raised by Aaron and the team for NSPCC's ChildLine Service.

Fourth question

Have you been on any holidays recently and what's the best place you've been too?

My most recent holiday was in March to Fuerteventura with my girlfriend. This was following a couple of days in Amsterdam to watch Chelsea’s Champions League game against Ajax. Despite it being a bit chilly some days, we had a great time. My favourite holiday was to Italy in 2018. We stayed in Sorrento for two weeks but travelled along the Amalfi Coast and took in some amazing sights such as Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius, the island of Capri as well as Amalfi, Positano and Ravello!

Fifth question

Have you got any other hobbies you're passionate about outside of work?

I have an ever growing collection of LEGO. I have to restrain myself from letting it get too much bigger as I have run out of space to store it all! The largest set in my collection is the World Map which is on the wall above my desk at home. One of the most collectable pieces I have is the Land Rover Defender and one of the unsung heroes in my collection is the Up-Scaled Minifigure.

Sixth question

Korfball, tell us more!

Korfball is a fun and fast-paced sport played by two teams of eight players with four female and four male players on each team. The aim is to shoot the ball into a net-less basket which is mounted on a 3.5 metre high pole! The pitch is split in half, with two females and two males from each team in either half. One team is attacking while the other team is defending, with the reverse in the other half. After two goals are scored, everyone changes ends, so if they were attacking they would then be defending and visa-versa.

I began playing in primary school and quickly joined a club. I developed from there and went on to play for England at U17s, U19s and U21s! I also had the chance to play at the Copper Box Arena with my club in 2019 for the National League Finals.

Seventh question

What is your go-to food dish and have you got any recommendations to share?

If I am cooking then it would be a carbonara. Simple but great and everyone loves it. If you are lucky, I would also make profiteroles for dessert! If I am going out to dinner, then I would pick from a few small local restaurants, an Italian, a Turkish, a Mexican or a Chinese.

Final Question

Finally, you're trapped on a desert island along with three other people. Who are you bringing with you?

Bear Grylls to keep me alive.
Brandi Carlile because she can sing and make music.
Millie Bright so we could have a kick about.
