First question

Who are you, what is your role and how long have you been at Square in the Air?

My SITA journey and foray into B2B PR started back in 2017 and things have changed considerably over the years. When I first arrived, there were just three of us who worked full-time on B2B, now we have a team of around 15! It’s been a privilege to be part of a company that has grown so far in a relatively short period of time. As Senior Account Director, I’m responsible for the strategic direction of our B2B clients and help to elevate their brand awareness in such a competitive marketplace.

Second question

You’ve been on many trips across the world attending some of the biggest iGaming conferences with our clients, where’s been your highlight and why?

It has to be Vegas – the home of casino. G2E is an intense week full of meetings, video shoots and moderating panel discussions, plus the jet lag doesn’t help, but it’s all worth it given the unique nature of Sin City.

My first evening in Vegas was a memorable experience and I have Blueprint Gaming to thank for that. They kindly invited me to join them to RuPaul's Drag Race live at the Flamingo, during which I was targeted by the host and was up on stage for most of the show! To this day I’m convinced Jo Purvis orchestrated this with the organisers…

Third question

You recently got married! Congratulations! Tell us about your big day…

Thank you, it was certainly a special day and I was fortunate to have been joined by a few existing and past SITA colleagues. Alice and I got married at an amazing venue called Butley Priory in Suffolk, which we would highly recommend. Our favourite moment was when the waiters we hired stunned guests by singing a melody of hits including Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Marvin Gaye, Spice Girls, Taylor Swift and The Beatles! Everyone was on their feet and it set the tone for a great evening.

Fourth question

In the past few years you relocated to Norwich, tell us about the city…

My wife’s family are from Norwich, which prides itself as being a ‘Fine City’. To be honest, I only really knew about Norwich from Alan Partridge and was already dead against the pedestrianisation of the city centre (people always forget that traders need access to Dixons). However, it’s definitely been the right move for us. We’re blessed with so many pubs, restaurants and cafes to choose from, many of which are independent. There’s a saying that Norwich has a Church for every week of the year and a pub for every day of the year, which is very accurate.

Fifth question

Gus and Mavis have arrived and you’ve made your house a home, tell us about how your new family life!

What more can I say, they’re two very special cats! Unlike any other cats I’ve been with, they constantly want attention and run to the front door whenever the doorbell goes.

Sixth question

As one of our many Arsenal fans at the company, if you were the manager how would you change the side this year in hopes of winning the Premier League next season?

In truth, there’s not an awful lot I would change. Mikel Arteta has done an exceptional job in taking us to within touching distance of the league title and we keep progressing. To be challenging Pep Guardiola’s history-making Manchester City team is an achievement in itself, but I’m desperate for this current Arsenal team to win silverware as they deserve it. Improving the squad depth is key for me, including the addition of a striker.

Seventh question

Tell us about a hidden hobby we may not know about!

The reaction I get when I tell industry execs about this is priceless, but I love my trains! Bit of a Francis Bourgeois, but less cool. My wife and I often go to the North Norfolk railway in Sheringham and catch a steam train along the coast – great in the summer with stunning views of the sea. Also love discovering the disused network of trains/stations in this country. The Parkland Walk from Alexandra Palace to Finsbury Park is well worth a visit on a sunny day, while I’ve also been fortunate to head down to the old Jubilee line platforms at Charing Cross, which closed to passengers in 1999 but still used for filming purposes.

Final Question

And finally a quickfire, favourite music artist and why?

The Modfather – Paul Weller. Fortunate to have seen him live a couple of times but would’ve loved to have seen The Jam and Style Council. His taste in music opened my ears to so much more, which is why I’m also a big fan of jazz, soul and funk.
